フランス印象派と新古典主義をミックスさせたようなルーセルの作品ですが、代表作とも言えるこの2曲はルーセル入門の一枚としても最適。日本ではル・サージュらとのプーランク録音が知られるドゥネーヴ（CDや来日公演ではステファン・ドヌーヴという表記）が、音楽監督を務めるオーケストラと運動性に満ちた音楽を生み出しています。
