インバルのマーラー第7番は、CDではこれまでに、1986年にセッション録音されたフランクフルト放響との演奏と、2011年にライヴ録音されたチェコ・フィルとの演奏がリリースされています。
この『夜の歌』は、様々な素材が、あるときは大胆にあるときは繊細に変容を遂げることで全体が構成されると言う、並列的・接続的・即興的なスタイルが特徴ともいえる作品で、それまでの論理的展開と帰結を志向した交響曲の一般常識からはかけ離れたものとして受け止められてきました。
今回は現在のインバルの巨匠ぶりのすごさを改めて認識させる最新録音で、この作品のアニミズム的な雰囲気さえ感じさせるディテールの面白さを、マーラー経験を数多く蓄積し、現在では日本随一のマーラー・オーケストラとなった東京都交響楽団の高度な実力を借りて巧みに描いています。（ＨＭＶ）
