These recordings are terrible! Franci’s distorted phrasing and tempi are unbelievably bad, almost spastic. This music is not the place for improvisation unless you are selling it as a jazz project, and even at that it doesn’t measure up. You will have to hear this set to believe how bad this music is played. True devotees of Stravinsky’s piano music will find this collection truly shocking. It’s a nightmare that shows nothing but disrespect and contempt for the composer’s intentions. The only saving grace is the recording of the rarely or never heard piano arrangement ”Prologue from Boris Gudunov” made by Stravinsky in 1918. At a little over a minute in length Franci didn’t have time to ruin it. Then you will have to decide if this little piece is worth the cost of a collection of Stravinsky’s piano pieces that is otherwise a total abomination.
