個人的にはデビュー時のスウェードが印象深いが、作品としてオススメしたいのが、この２ｎｄアルバム『ドッグ・マン・スター』。現在はソロ・アーティストとして完全に音楽業界復帰したバーナード・バトラーの刹那のギターが麗しい。このあと、彼はドラッグまみれになって自分の立ち位置を求めながら迷走していったのだった。悲劇的なまでにロマンティックな一枚。

聴けば聴くほど、この底無しに甘美な世界に、まるで催眠にかけられたかのように、ずりずりと引き込まれ、ハマっていく。WILD ONES, そして2 OF USからラストを締めるSTILL LIFEまでの流れが特にお気に入り。アルバムジャケットもその世界観を見事に表している。密室度の高い傑作。
