This sort of recording should not be allowed (2nd concerto) The pianist takes two cuts in the work only one of which was sanctioned by the composer and then very reluctantly (end of slow movement). The other is very strange as it truncates the large cadenza in the first movement. Otherwise the recording may have been worth a recommendation as there are too few of the 2nd concerto.

The greatest french conductor ever! Ravel’s music Remastered so that it sounds like it was recorded yesterday, except if it were it would not sound anywhere near as good as this, The engineer was Paul Vavaseur! Buy it

Just in case no one else has mentioned this: The extra three and a half minutes of music at the start of the Schlagobers excerpt is the moonlight music from Capriccio. Great conducting throughout. DJB

At last these recordings have been transferred showing their great qualities There may still be some faults apparent from the original master tapes but this is the best you will hear. The sinfonia domestica is now quite superb and the best ever; and on volume two the Heldenleben has at last been transferred correctly with no break where the original LP side break was. If you can afford it well worth the money!
