Wes Montgomery

ウエス・モンゴメリーはオクターブ奏法を完成させ、ジャズギターを大衆化した人気ギタリスト。しかし、経済的にはなかなか恵まれなかった。近年、ウエスの大衆路線の作品が若い新しいファンに聴かれ、ウエスの人気は復活しつつある。その根底にあるのはウエスの演奏が持つ「歌心」と「暖かい音色」だろう。心をほっとさせる“カリフォルニア・ドリーミング”の演奏は永遠に不滅だ。
