カーペンターズの音楽は1970年代を代表する陽性なポップスの象徴であり、また白い歯と当時の中産階級向けの保守的で安全なポップスといったものを連想をさせもする。そうしたイメージからか特に本国アメリカではノスタルジー以上の楽曲単位での再評価が受けられにくいといった事情があるように思われる。
