Unlike her first studio recordings of these pieces, released many years ago on the Philips label, these new recordings see her directing the orchestra from the keyboard, in the manner of the original performances. モーツアルトとしては数少ない短調系であるこの20番をくっきりと演奏（指揮＆ピアノ）している内田さんの実力をあらためて実感しました。

前作の23番24番では録音の悪さから、内田＆クリーヴランドの良さかが感じられませんでしたが、今作、録音は充分な水準に達しています。クリーヴランドの定期会員だった時、内田さんに「このオーケストラはモーツァルトが演奏できる稀なオーケストラなので好きなんです。」と言うと、内田さんが我が意を得たりと言う感じで、嬉しそうに「そうなのよね。だから私はこのオーケストラとモーツァルトを演奏するんです。」と仰られたことが思い出されます。

内田光子のモーツァルト新録音の第２段。K466と595･･･気分的に正反対の音楽と思うが、両極端の楽想をさらに極端に突き詰めた演奏と感じた。　　K466は旧盤よりいっそう緊張感が増し、息苦しいくらい。特に第１楽章の8：00過ぎのオケへの受け渡しの部分などは他の演奏では味わえない緊迫がある。「ここまで深刻に演らなくても･･･」と思われる方も出るかもしれない。でも、一度聴くとまた聴きたくなるクセになる音楽が魅力。Ｋ466の悪魔的な闘争を表す演奏としては最右翼ではないだろうか。　　　このシリーズでは内田が指揮も兼ねているが「指揮者」というフィルターを通すとどうしても内田の考えは減退せざるをえなくなるから敢えてピアノ兼指揮という方法を取ったのではないだろうか。クリ−ヴランド管も「一緒にやろう」と言ってくれたらしいからこのチャンスを使って自分の考えを100％反映させたいと意気込んでのものであろう。　　Ｋ595は逆に清澄の音楽。カーゾンとブリテンが奏でた静けさではないが、淡々と音を置いていく。（すこし無理があるかもしれないが）個人的にはシューベルトの「冬の旅」の主人公の歩みのような印象を持った。カーゾンの静けさは温かい感じがし、内田のそれは孤独が醸し出す静けさといったような。　　　表現が激しいモーツァルトが苦手な方にはおススメしかねるが、内田の今の状態を感じたい方、アグレッシブなモーツァルトを聴きたい方にお勧めです。
