1982年のアルバムOfframpに続いて、パット・メセニー・グループの北米ツアーから選りすぐったライブ・アルバム。1983年に発表され翌年グラミー賞ベスト･ジャズ・フュージョン・パフォーマンス賞を受賞。 メンバーはPat Metheny GroupのLyle Mays 、 Steve Rodby 、 Dan Gottlieb 、 Nana Vasconcelos。 有名チューン「Are You Going with Me?” 」「Phase Dance」「想い出のサン・ロレンツォ 」はじめ、今後も演奏される「Farmer’s Trust」「Song for Bilbao」など、初期のPat Methenyの集大成。だから、入門アルバムとしてもいいですよ

ファースト・サークルのツアーで日本に来て...

ファースト・サークルのツアーで日本に来ていたときのライブを観て感動しました。メセニーはさっぱりとしてスリムで笑顔が素敵な青年でギターがうまかった。 メイズは蛇のような顔だった。そしてペドロ・アズナールの声がすばらしかった。 ライブアルバムのトラベルズとは違い、一発目はノリのよい「フェイズ・ダンス」であり、ステージ上に固定されたギターを決めのフレーズのときに弾く姿がかっこよかった。 メセニーのエレキ・ギターとペドロ・アズナールの声、メイズのキーボードサウンドが流れるようで非常に心地よかったステージでした。 そのときの感動がよみがえるこのアルバムです。
