ナチのソ連侵攻50周年にドイツの若手演奏家...

ナチのソ連侵攻50周年にドイツの若手演奏家とソ連のオーケストラの合同チームをユダヤ系亡命ロシア人が指揮するというストーリーだけでも、この楽曲の「反ファシズム」的な成り立ちを思えば説得力がある。長い楽曲を丁寧に指揮するバルシャイは、他の指揮者のスペクタクル一辺倒な演奏とは一味違う。演奏終了後の長い沈黙のあと鳴りやまない拍手が１トラックとして収録されているのも歴史的瞬間だったからこそだろう。91年のデジタル録音なので音質もいい。おそらくワンポイントマイク収録ゆえかダイナミックレンジがとても広くオケの音が渾然と溶け合っている。１楽章のスネアを心地よく聴いていると後で大変なことになるのでご注意を。

瑞々しい音楽に心打たれる。技量は十分。録音もいい。若い腕利き達がやる気満々で、特別な演奏会で全力を出している。超名演のバーンスタイン盤、美しいヤンソンス盤と聴いてきたが、バルシャイ盤も実に素晴らしい。あぁ、７番はいい曲だなぁと素直に思った。

本盤にはバーンスタインの陶酔やムラヴィンスキーの恐怖はないが、バルシャイの真摯な姿勢が作品を冷静さを失わず迫真性のあるものにしている。
