1996年にリリースされた、ピアノ・チェロ・ヴァイオリンによるトリオ・セッションの超名盤「1996」。
本作は発売30年を記念し、2026年にRobin Schmidt氏(24-96 Mastering)の手によりリマスタリングされました。
また、2011年USA盤リマスター時に、坂本龍一の意向により16曲目（アルバム・ラスト曲)が“Self Portrait”に変更されています。
