1977年9月11日、ロンドン近郊のATVエルストリー・スタジオで、Bing CrosbyのTV特別番組『Bing Crosby's Merrie Olde Christmas』のために録音。Bing Crosbyがスタンダード曲「Little Drummer Boy」を、Davide Bowieが対位旋律の「Peace On Earth」を歌っている。この曲は、番組の音楽監督であるIan FraserとLarry Grossman、脚本家のBuz Kohan がこのコラボレーションのために特別に書き下ろしたもので、Bing Crosbyが1977年10月に亡くなる前に残した最後のレコーディングの1つが、このデュエット曲だった。1977年の番組OA後、商品として入手不可能な時期が長く続いたが、1982年11月にRCAレコードからシングルとして発売され大ヒット、Bing Crosbyにとって最後のヒット曲、David Bowieにとって最も売れた曲の１つとなった。イギリスで40万枚以上のセールスを記録、イギリス・北米のクリスマス定番曲となり、ワシントン・ポスト紙では「クリスマス音楽史上最も成功したデュエットの一つ」と評された。
