宇野さんのクナといってもいいぐらいで、そのせいか評価はいつも高い。録音のためかわたしはいつもこの指揮者を聴いて感じるのだが、フルトヴェングラーやワルター等にくらべると、確かに呼吸は大きくスケールも大きい、が何となく浅さを感じる。ハイドン変奏など、フルトやワルターのほうが深くて感動的と思うし、悲劇的も他にもっと優れた演奏がある。ワーグナーにも同様に感じることがある。

私の昔からの愛聴盤。木管も良いが、当時のこのオケの金管の味わい深さはたまらない。良い意味でひなびた感じなのだが伝わるだろうか？　録音も優れており６０年代までこのオケがデッカ専属という道を選んだのも良く分かる。

ステレオ初期の英デッカの凄さを再認識させる録音。特にブラームスは２１世紀にクナ＆ウィーンフィルがよみがえったかのよう。最近のウィーンフィルからはこれだけの木管は聴けません。
