最近になってようやくこのCDを聴いたのだけど、本当にすばらしいと思った。特に、併録のメタモルフォーゼンは、この曲の録音の中でも最良の部類に入るだろう。ベートーヴェン「英雄交響曲」の葬列行進曲が引用されるこの作品は、悲しみに貫かれてなくてはならない。ドンファンの様な娯楽作品ではないのだ。滴る涙の様な、瑞々しさと切なさを感じさせてくれるのは、この演奏しかない。英雄の生涯もびっくりするくらい内容のある演奏で、聴き応えがあった。この録音は、もっと多くの人に聴かれてもいいはずだ。オーマンディの芸能が刻まれている。

Outstanding rendition with great sound of one of the staples of Ormandy’s long career -- with Norman Carol, violin, Samuel Mayes, violoncell, and Joseph dePasquale -- legendary players in the Philadelphia Orchestra. Can’t get any better. John
