If you like Tchaikovsky’s early symphonies, you will love Kalinnikov. The orchestra on this CD isn’t first rate, but the sound is very good and the interpretation is excellent, especially the Andante and the magnificent Finale. Overall, this is better than the version on Naxos. Unfortunately, the Glinka pieces are forgettable.
