同じソリスト、指揮者、楽団、レーベルで、1990年にオーチャードで行われたライブ録音(廃盤)がありますが、それと比べるとマイクが近いせいかボリューム・レベルが若干上がっており、当盤のほうが特にピアノがよく聞こえるほか、第1楽章のテンポが遅く、所要時間が25：23と2分長くなり、線が太くなった印象があります。日本の楽団でこれだけの演奏ができたという点では、記念すべき1枚かもしれません。両端楽章は、カーゾン独奏、セル指揮のロンドン響(DECCA)と比べると、低弦やホルンなどがおとなし過ぎて物足りないですが、第2楽章に関しては、当盤のほうが丁寧な内容で好感が持てます。About the outer movements, the volume of strings and horns are calmer than another performance by Curzon, G. Szell and London Symphony Orchestra（DECCA）; which feel unsatisfactory. Because Asahina sets slow tempo in the first movement, it takes 25 minutes and 20 seconds to perform it in this recording. But about the second movement, this performance is more pathetic but consolatory than that of DECCA, thanks to Asahina’s steady support.
