グラミー5冠！Robert Plant＆Alison Krauss

全米レコード芸術科学アカデミー（Recording Academy）が主催する世界最大の音楽賞、第51回グラミー賞が発表されました。

今年のグラミーを制したのは、主要2部門（「Record Of The Year」「Album Of The Year」）を含む全5部門（「Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals」「Best Country Collaboration With Vocals」「Best Contemporary Folk/Americana Album」を受賞したロバート・プラント＆アリソン･クラウス！

すでに2007年10月にリリースされていたロバート・プラント＆アリソン･クラウスのアルバム『Raising Sand』。ロバート･プラントとアリソン･クラウスというまったく音楽的背景が異なる2人の個性を、プロデューサーのTボーン･バーネットが見事なまでに引き出したことでも話題となったこの作品。

トム・ウェイツ、ジーン・クラークをはじめ、リトル・ミルトン・キャンベル、メル・テイリス、タウンズ・バン・ザントといったR&B/ブルース/カントリー系ソング・ライターの隠れた名曲に加え、ロバート・プラント/ジミー・ペイジが1998年に発表したアルバム「ウォーキング・イントゥ・クラークスデール」の中の1曲「プリーズ・リード・ザ・レター」もセルフ・カヴァーするなど、幅の広い選曲で構成されており、ポップ･ミュージックの源流を思わせる、アーバン･ブルース、カントリー、そしてフォーク・ロックの融合といった雰囲気を携えながらも、モダンでコンテンポラリーな魅力を湛えたアルバムです。

このほか、最多ノミネートで期待されていたコールドプレイは「Song Of The Year」の主要1部門を含む3部門（Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals」「Best Rock Album」を受賞。
「Best New Artist」「Best Female Pop Vocal Performance」の2部門にアデル、「Best Pop Vocal Album」にダフィーとイギリス勢の受賞が目立ちました。
