ルグランの代表作をまとめた日本独自企画の没後一年追悼盤

今年（2019年）1月26日に86歳で逝去したフランス映画音楽界を代表する巨匠にして、大作曲家。アカデミー賞、ゴールデングローブ賞、グラミー賞など、名誉ある賞を数多く受賞。『シェルブールの雨傘』『ロシュフォールの恋人』『おもいでの夏』など、数多くの映画音楽を手掛けた。ジャズ・ピアニストとしても数々の作品を発表。マイルス・デイビスやビル・エヴァンスが参加した『ルグラン・ジャズ』は歴史的名盤。ジョン・コルトレーン、サラ・ヴォーンら大物ミュージシャンとの共演作品も数多い。親日家で来日公演も多かった。2018年7月のブルーノート東京が最後の来日公演となった。
　生涯現役だった彼が残した作品は映画音楽を中心に、そこから独立し、スタンダードとなった名曲ばかり。また、彼自身が自作を様々なヴァリエーションで再録音をしている。本作のそういった彼の楽曲を集めた作品集。Disc1は彼が映画のために作曲した楽曲の自作自演集。Disc2はそこから派生して、様々なアーティストによって録音されたカヴァーの数々を収録。代表曲を網羅し、ベスト盤としても楽しめる内容になっている。（メーカー資料より）
