美しいロマンに溢れる4番は20世紀に書かれた交響曲の最高傑作の一つだと個人的には思っている。祖国エストニアがソ連とナチスドイツの争いに巻き込まれた第二次大戦中の1943年にこのような曲を書くことが出来たのは何故なのかわからない。演奏はフィナーレで多少のアンサンブルの乱れがあるものの曲の美しさは見事に表現していると思う。9番は晩年の渋いスタイルの曲だが悪くない。
