ネーメ・ヤルヴィの二男、パーヴォ・ヤルヴィの弟、俊才クリスチャン・ヤルヴィによるソニー・クラシカル第４弾として、チャイコフスキーの秘曲『雪娘』が登場します。『雪娘』はオストロフスキーの劇のために書かれた作品。ベレンジェイという伝説上の王国に住む『雪娘』の悲恋がテーマとなっています。序曲、幕間音楽、合唱、舞踊曲、歌など、19の音楽から構成されています。チャイコフスキー33歳というまだ若き時代の作品であり、ファンタジーあふれる音楽です。秘曲好きの父ネーメも1994年にデトロイト響と録音しており、この作品のスタンダードとして評価されていました。
その20年後、手兵ＭＤＲ響とエキサイティングな音楽作りを繰り広げているクリスチャン・ヤルヴィが挑戦する『雪娘』。ダイナミズム溢れる音楽作りが期待されます。（SONY）
