カラヤンのサロメ、薔薇の騎士が素晴らしい。特にサロメが出色の美しさで、それまでショルティの硬い演奏で聴いて来た耳には、清水で洗われるようであった。高レベルの演奏が揃うボックスです。素晴らしい。

EMIには作曲家別のオペラボックスが幾つかありますが、このセットは各曲に名盤を惜しげもなく充てている点で、出色のセットです。とりわけ、カラヤンのサロメとばらの騎士は今後これ以上望み得ないと思えるほどの、歌唱陣を含めて最高の演奏が収められています。ほか、R.シュトラウスオペラの権威だったサヴァリッシュによる演奏は実に安定感があり、それぞれのオペラの魅力を満喫できます。ケンペのアリアドネは、豪華な歌手陣は、今日では望めないものですし、上演の機会が少ない無口な女にヤノフスキによるこのオペラ唯一の良質な演奏を聴くことができます。地味目な作品を含めて、シュトラウスの多様なオペラの魅力を味わうことができる素晴らしいセットです。
