Recorded on May 16th & 17th, 2008 live at Smalls Jazz Club, Greenwich Village, NYC. Ryan Kisor, the 37 year old trumpet player, began his career by winning the Thelonious Monk Trumpet Competition. Since then he has been a formidable force on the trumpet in the New York jazz scene, working as the lead horn for The Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, The Mingus Big Band and the Gil Evans Orchestra. For this energetic live date, he brings along his Lincoln Center band mates, Sherman Irby, Carlos Henriquez and Ali Jackson as well as the solid, post-bop modernist, Peter Zak for a lively set of originals and standards.
