Content Description

FBI agent Sean Archer (John Travolta) knows how to stop elusive terrorist Castor Troy (Nicholas Cage). He'll become him. Archer undergoes a futuristic surgery and has Troy's face mapped onto his, then infiltrates the terrorist's world to discover his deadly secrets. But as much as Archer looks and acts like Troy, he doesn't really know him. He never figures that Troy will retaliate and force doctors to transform him into Archer. Now the agent faces a shattering nightmare: his archrival is living with his family.

ジョン・ウーの集大成。 とても個性の強いジョン・トラボルタとニコラス・ケイジの顔を入れ替えるネタが素晴らしい！ 合唱団は何のために歌っていたのかさっぱり解らないけれど、牧師姿のニコラス・ケイジのネタが面白いからオッケー！そういう映画。

Face off（対決）をテーマに、本当にFace（顔）をOff（取る）しやがったトンデモ映画。オーバー・ザ・レインボーからメキシカンスタンドオフに至るシークエンスでは、アクション詩人ジョン・ウーの面目躍如。何度撃っても当たらないガンプレイと併せて、見どころの満漢全席、ジャンルムービー的に楽しむのが正解と思う。

FBI捜査官 John Travolta と 息子の仇であるテロリスト Nicolas Cage が、それぞれの思惑でお互いの顔を移植することになる（両者の体格や顔の大きさについては言及を避けること）。名優二人がうますぎて、悪い顔のFBI捜査官やおろおろするテロリストを観ているうちに目が離せなくなる。FBI捜査官の奥さん役 Joan Allen が ”Jason Bourne”シリーズとは違い、毅然としてないところがかわいらしい。
