アメリカのコンサート・バンドを牽引した人物と言えばまずＪ．Ｐ．スーザが挙げられますが、その後継いだ後継者的存在と言えばエドウィン・フランコ・ゴールドマンが挙げられます。 彼はスーザと同じく自身の名を冠したゴールドマン・バンドを率いて自作や他の作曲家に作品委嘱、演奏する等、アメリカ吹奏楽界に多大なる貢献をした人物でもあります。 ゴールドマン・バンドもエドウィン指揮の録音もいくつか残していますが、このCDはエドウィンの息子、リチャードの指揮で録音されたアメリカン・マーチの録音で父親エドウィンの作品の他、スーザやプライヤーといった作曲家の作品が収められています。 比較的珍しい曲が収録されているのは嬉しい所ですが、『木陰の散歩道』が収録されていないのは残念です。 録音年代の割に音質は良いほうだと思います。
