10代の頃からのOrnette Colemanとの度重なる共演、1971年のKeith Jarrettのアメリカン･カルテットへの参加、そしてCharlie Haden、Don Cherry、Ed Blackwellと組んだグループ＝Old and New Dreamsでの活動が知られる詩的なソロ･センスが卓越したサックス奏者、Dewey Redmanの1982年録音の唯一のECMリーダー作が初CD化。本作では友人Ed Blackwellのソウルフルなドラムの中で自由に吹きまくり、フリー･インプロヴィゼーションが光っている。自身のオリジナルとCharlie Parkerの『Dewey Square』を収録。Redmanは惜しくも昨年逝去。
