Something of a compilation album featuring six tracks apiece from two of the top jazz musicians of the late 1950s, Chris Barber and Acker Bilk. This album would go on to become one of the best selling jazz albums of the era, hitting #4 on the charts and spending almost a year on the listings. Indeed, it was so successful it prompted a second volume, although one wonders whether it might have proved as successful if all the Chris Barber tracks had been released as one album and all the Acker Bilk tracks as another! Hallmark.
