Amid the flood of Bruckner recordings of recent years, Gerd Schaller brings to the table engrossing new editions by William Carragan. These editions were published based on the scholarship lately presented by the International Bruckner Society and presented with historical concern and dazzling musicianship. The disc also includes the first-ever recording of Carragan's edition of the 1874 revision of Symphony No. 3. Fine and sensitive playing from the Philharmonie Festiva renders Bruckner's majestic and mystical works even more lovely.

第３番をスコアを見ながら聴き始めた　驚いた　シャラーがスコアに手を入れていると思った　ノヴァークIII/1と違う音が鳴る　ディスクに1874年ファースト・ヴァージョンとあったから　てっきり”これ”を演奏していると思った　そうだ初版は1743年で一年ズレている　しかもキャラガン版とある　慌ててコメントを探すと　あのワーグナーに献呈したスコアの写しがブルックナーの手元に残っていて　後もブルックナーは手を入れ続けていたというのだ　違いは僅かだから鑑賞に支障はない　フィルハーモニー・フェスティヴァは幽霊オーケストラだ　リヒターが組織したミュンヘン・バッハO.の発展形だというが　録音主体のオーケストラであることに違いはない　パート間の力量の不均衡は隠しようがないものの健闘している　何にしても歴史の襞に隠れて切りていられたブルックナーの呟きを掬うが如きキャラガン版を音にして届けてくれたシャラーに感謝したい　ブルックナーを愛する人は聴かなければ勿体無い　あなたも如何
