もう一つの名盤です。ジャケはちょっとオタ...

もう一つの名盤です。ジャケはちょっとオタクっぽいけど、「枯葉」も入ってるし、取っつきやすいんじゃないかと思います。モードって、ある意味、それまでのジャズの語法からいえば新しかったのかもしれませんが、今となっては、ごく自然な音楽として、特に新しさは感じません。だからこそ偉大なのかも。

枯葉が聴きたくてついかけてしまう名盤。キャノンボール・アダレイのサムシング・エルスの枯葉に対して、後出しでこのトリオによる枯葉を収録するのは痺れる展開だと思う。後のエクスプロレイションズやヴィレッジヴァンガードの2作品と比べるとピアノの音質は良いとは言えないが、このアルバムの評価を下げる程の影響はない。

このアルバムの「枯葉」を聴くと、失恋した時のようにすごく心が痛くなります。エヴァンスが泣きながらピアノを弾いているような気がしてしょうがない。名演です。
