SARANG BANG RECORDSが開始したオーストラリアン・ジャズ・アーカイヴ・シリーズの第1弾はバーニー・マクガン。

日本ではポピュラーではないがオーストラリア本国ではお馴染みバーニー・マクガン。活動初期1966年の貴重な未発表セッションがアナログ限定で発売されます。当時の録音としては2曲がCBS盤『Jazz Australia compilation』 (1967)で聴けるのみ。スタイルとしてはやはり時代の影響を受けてかオーネット・コールマン、エリック・ドルフィーあたりを彷彿させるアブストラクトなサウンドが印象的です。近年ではポール・グラボウスキーのオールウェイズにも参加しておりコンスタントに活動しております。
