名歌手ニルソンがスター街道を駆け上っている最中の「アイーダ」は、このあとに録音されたEMIのメータ盤よりも更に迫力のある声を楽しむことができます。このCDは、ニルソンに焦点を当てた録音ですので、通常の抜粋盤に収録されている「凱旋行進曲」とかはありません。おまけで収録されている「ヴェーゼンドンクの五つの歌」も、ニルソンが抑えた声で歌っているのが素晴らしく、C.デイヴィスの伴奏もワグナーの雰囲気をうまく出しています。長く埋もれていて初めてのCD化というのが信じられません。
