１９７０年前後にフルトヴェングラーの映画...

１９７０年前後にフルトヴェングラーの映画に熱中して以来、最も興奮したドン・ジョヴァンニの映像。画期的な演出。石像はアフリカの神像を使い、それがしゃべるのをあくまで信じようとしない（つまり偶像を認めない）ドン・ジョヴァンニは、キルケゴールが「あれかこれか」のなかで解釈するように、まさしく信仰の英雄である。偶像も地獄もその炎も現実には存在せず、すべてただ内面の出来事であるという近代合理主義の解釈が具体化されている。フルトヴェングラー以降、演出に様々な意匠がこらされてきたが、それらは小手先の工夫にしかみえない。
