グリゴリアンが主役を演ずる『ルサルカ』の映像には2023年のロイヤル・オペラ版もあるが、あらゆる点でこちらの方が上。舞台は劇場入り口のホールとおぼしき場所で、ヒロインは足を怪我して松葉杖をついているバレリーナ。イェジババ(この演出では母親？)に足を治してもらう代わりに声を失うという設定。素人考えでもこんな読み替えは無理だろうと思うのだが、むしろ整合性を説明しないことで、この設定を成立させてしまうのは驚き。グリゴリアンはバレエの経験もあるということだが、トウシューズを履いてポワント(爪先立ち)できるのは、さすが。もちろん歌、演技ともに圧巻だが、特に声を失ってから自分の苦しみをマイムだけで語るところは、この演出の白眉。王子役のカトラーも松葉杖をついているのは、直前に怪我をしたせいで演出の仕様ではないようだが、まさに怪我の功名。主役二人の同質性、彼も(『白鳥の湖』の王子のように)普通の女を愛せない男性であることを明らかにする結果になっている。かつてのドラマティック・ソプラノ二人、マッティラとダライマンの出演も豪華。シンフォニーではどうも弱腰に聞こえるボルトンもすこぶる的確な指揮で、劇場人としてのセンスを披露してくれている。
