Product Description

Southern Woman, the debut solo album of song stylist Pookie Lane brings soul music to life with the single Southern Woman, a fun, lively song that pays tribute to hard working, good loving women everywhere. This song, as well as the rest of the album shows, the diverse range of Pookie's passionate vocal talent. Born in Blytheville, Arkansas, his father was a Southern Baptist minister and his mother was an outstanding singer in her own right, Pookie was wowing crowds as early as the age of five, when he bought his uncle's Prince of Peace Church to their feet with his rendition of Why Do Men Treat The Lord Like They Do. At 17 he forged his fathers signature on a release form to sing background with Dennis Edwards of Temptations fame. A stand out performer, Pookie soon caught the attention of R&B superstar Keith Sweat where he formed the group Ol Skool, a multiplatinum selling group on Universal Records. In 2000 Pookie was called in at the last minute to do background for entertainer Stan Mosely. Pookie learned 12 songs in five hours and gave a stunning performance on the show. James McKay, currently bassist for the Temptations, then Mosely's music director, took notice of Pookie's extraordinary talent The collaboration of Pookie and James McKay is pure soul magic with passionate gritty vocals and catchy hooks that stay on the mind.
