Tangled Roots

We are a family bluegrass band -- the Schwartz family from Walnut Creek, California, featuring the explosive and expressive picking of brothers Nate and Max on mandolin and banjo -- now 18 and 15 -- and their sizzling nine-year-old sister, Tessa, on fiddle. Everyone in the band sings, and our material ranges from traditional bluegrass to modern, edgy instrumentals. We recorded an eponymous CD in 2009-10, but as everyone in the band improved over the last few years, we decided to make a second CD that we think accurately captures our current family band sound. The tracks on this CD reflect the hard work we've put in over the last several years, and the passion that we bring to our music.
