2010 two CD set containing a pair of albums from one of the most successful Soul vocal groups of the '70s and '80s. Unlike many of their contemporaries their smooth blend of balladry and Soul enabled them to enjoy hits all over the world, especially in the United Kingdom. It was 1976's Columbia album, The Manhattans, which took the group into the stratosphere, fuelled by the singles, Hurt and Kiss And Say Goodbye, this song beautifully performed soared to #1 on the Pop charts as well as #1 on the R&B listings, easily managing to sell two million copies in the process. They enjoyed many more hits between 1977 and 1980 including the million selling single 'Shining Star' from the album After Midnight. 23 tracks.

Manhattansの名作Manhattansと後期の大ヒット作 After Midnightのカップリング。２CDでボーナストラックもあり。通して聴いてみた感想は１枚目のManhattans収録の「Kiss And Say Goodbye]が素晴らしすぎて後の楽曲が霞んでしまうほどだという事。久々に聴いてセクシーすぎて鳥肌が立ちました。

MANHATTANSは2枚目に収録されているｵｰﾌﾟﾆﾝｸﾞ曲『SHINING STAR』は当時(80年)から知っていましたが､他の曲は大半が初めて聴くものばかりです｡①『MANHATTANS』は音圧が高めに収録されていましたが､②『AFTER MIDNIGHT』は音圧が残念ながら低かったです｡録音ﾚﾍﾞﾙくらい統一してほしかったですね｡
