Summer Isles

2016 release from the Scottish artist. Growing up in the West Coast Coigach peninsula in the Scottish Highlands, the Summer Isles are deeply rooted in Mairearad's composition. Performing regularly with multi-instrumentalist Anna Massie and well-known folk band The Poozies, Mairearad is known for her instrumental prowess on the accordion and pipes. Given the wealth of local stories and poems to work with, a new feature on Summer Isles, and a seamless progression from previous work, is Mairearad's emotive piano playing and naturally beautiful singing voice. The production on this album captures the depth, beauty and space from the islands and, having guest musicians such as King Creosote and Mike Vass, showcases these at their best.
