Deceptively Agile. This album proves that songs can do more than we are accustomed to expect. Fred Knipe has had successful careers not only in songwriting (including a number one country hit), but also as a writer for television (4 emmys), and as a lecturing humorist (12 years and hundreds of appearances as Dr. Ludiker, free-range savant). This album brings the music and humor together. It's closest to cabaret in form, the lyrics rich and sophisticated. But the point of view is that of an overly candid and confident innocent, undaunted by love and misadventure. The music that carries this confection has comfy rhythms, more country and blues than rock but deceptively agile, like the lyrics.
