Slor (English Language Version)

2017 release from the Faroese singer/songwriter. Over two years in the making- Slr is actually an English-translated re-imagining of her Faroese-sung album release of the same title. To understand Eivr's motivation to re-write an entirely Faroese body of lyrics, look no further than a distinctly extraordinary childhood. Surrounded by the North Atlantic ocean, Eivr grew up in the tiny community of Syrugta (population: 1000) on Eysturoy, one of the most northerly of the Faroe Islands. The album title itself here remains untranslated - resisting a singular English definition ('Slr' can be used variously to mean 'veils' or 'blurriness' in English), it's a metaphor for the different worlds which Slr taps into. Copenhagen-based Eivr is already a well-known artist of over 16 years' standing in her native Scandinavia, with several global sync spots and soundtrack compositions also under her belt, Slr is - rather incredibly - Eivr's first commercial release in the UK. She has worked across a disparate clutch of collaborative projects alongside her ten solo album releases to date.
