Coleman Hawkins

1904年11月米国ミズーリ州セント・ジョセフ生まれ、69年5月19日死去。ジャズ・テナー・サックスの最初の巨人で、“ジャズ・テナーの父”と呼ばれる。男性的で逞しいワイルドなサウンドを聴かせた。30年代に対照的なタイプのテナー・サックス奏者レスター・ヤングと演じたテナー・バトルは伝説として語り継がれている。ホー
