Push Comes To Shove Ep

Born in North Carolina to tobacco farmers, Brooks Wood has always had a little country in his blood. He moved to New York City in 2009 where he has been writing and playing non-stop. Despite moving to the fast-paced city, the farm he grew up on in NC will always hold a part of his heart serving as a strong influence and inspiration to his latest EP. Wood's last release with the band that held his namesake, Brooks Wood Band, was in 2009 - the year the band broke up and he moved to New York. This year he will put out his first solo effort, 'Push Comes to Shove.' The EP is a new chapter in the talented musician's career. Drawing inspiration from his early roots, the six song effort showcases his understanding of country music he heard as a youngster, as well as the country-alt-rockers that came out of the 90's - a la Whiskeytown, Uncle Tupelo, and the like. Push Comes To Shove is a collection of stories pulled from the life Wood has made in the city with a sound deeply rooted in country. 'I've wanted to release a country CD for as long as I can remember, but BWB wasn't a country band... My songwriting has always had a country flare, but with this release, I made up my mind that I was going to just go country or go home...'
