いかにもベームらしい演奏。「ツァラトゥストラ」は堅く引き締まり、甘さの微塵もないスタイル。例の『リング』で「モーツァルトのようなワーグナー」とか言われましたが、それと同じスタイルです。だから豊麗さとか歌とかに欠けるんですな。この曲ではそれは痛い。正直、そんな中味のある曲ではないのでねえ。立派は立派なんですけど、それ以上の魅力がない。「ドン・ファン」と「ティル」も同様。但し、総じて、最高に立派なスタンダードとは言えるかもしれません。ベルリンフィルもすごいし、録音も５０年も前とは思えないしっかりしたものです。レンジがやや狭く、低域もやや薄いかな。ま、そんなところです。
