ガッティの指揮により肉厚で濃密な音楽が味わえる。タイトルロールの歌手はあまり印象に残っていないがパーペなどは良かったし、演出も最後まで緊張を切らさないのが良かった。舞台と言うより映画のような編集は好みが分かれると思う。
