プライの冬の旅の録音は、例えばディースカウに比べると決して多くはないのですが、実は一種の映画仕立てで三大歌曲集という態で映像を遺していたのでした。ユニテルのものなので、舞台公演のライブ収録ものよりは完成度は高いと思います。そして、このプライの歌がいいのです。1980年代の録音で、DENONに入れたものと年代的にはあまり変わらないのですが、この映像での歌唱の方がいいかなと思います。DVD2枚で白鳥の歌も水車屋も入ってますので、お得でもありますし。

This is Lieder singing at the highest level. All 3 cycles are rendered with exceptional vocal beauty and reveal the deepest immersion in the text. Prey, as so often, creates performances which are direct, yet alert to the subtlest nuances of text and music. He is well matched by both pianists. All three cycles are intelligently and tastefully filmed. This is a priceless and all too rare visual and aural documentation of one of the greatest Schubert interpreters of the last 100 years.
