    スティーブ・レイシー（1934年7月23日＆#12316;2004年6月4日）はアメリカ合衆国ニューヨークで生まれのジャズ・ソプラノサックス奏者、作曲家。アルバムは1958年の録音でスティーブ・レイシーのソプラノ・サックスによるセロニアス・モンク特集。共演者はピアノがマル・ウォルドロン、ベースがビュエル・ネイドリンガー、ドラムがエルヴィン・ジョーンズ。確かな技術にうらずけされた飾りのない愚直とも思えるレイシーのソプラノサックス。本来個性の強いモンクの曲を完全に自分のものにした偉業とリーダー格のバック陣のわきまえた音がさらに価値を高める。
