良い曲だな。 そんな言葉がすっと出てくる。 ピアノを主にしたシンプルなサウンドに、別れと旅立ちを綴った美しい日本語詩。 そこにひとすじの光を差し込むような歌声も、とても心地よく響いてくる。 変に飾ったりせずに、ただ伝えたいという想いがこんなシンプルな名曲を生んだのかもしれない。 一度でも聴いてもらえれば、その良さがわかるはずだ。

「東北笑顔プロジェクトインフォマーシャル」のCMソングとして流れているのを聴き、一瞬で惹きこまれてしまった楽曲がこの「Headlight」。 彼らだからこそ書けるリアルで熱いメッセージが詰まった歌詞。 MONKEY MAJIKらしい優しさと美しさを持ったメロディ。 心の底から想いを届けようという歌声。 それらが一つになり、珠玉の一曲となっている。 とにかく一度聴いてみてほしい。 そして、その言葉に刻まれた想いを感じてみてほしい。 そう心から言える一曲です。

Right off the bat, I can definitely define this album as the definitive album for new listeners who want to hear what Monkey Majik has to offer. From the get go, you’re embraced by the diversity in the musical styles and writing patters of the Plant brothers. Highlights for this album would definitely be ”Change” (collaboration with the Yoshida brothers), ”Sora Ha Marude”, ”Together”, ”Aishiteru” and ”Sakura”, but nevertheless the whole album is pleasant to listen to. One of the more definitive artists I’ve heard from Japan, so definitely a 5 start from me on this one.
