1752年の上演にもとづくドナルド・バロウズ校訂版を使用した録音です。この１年後に同メンバーによるライヴ録音は別レーベルより発売されていましたが、デッカでのスタジオ盤は久々の復活です。本拠地であるキングズ・カレッジの教会は、1441年にヘンリー６世により建設され、ケンブリッジに建ち並ぶカレッジ群の中でもっとも美しい建物です。その教会の荘厳なる残響とともに、名曲『メサイア』をお聴きください。（ユニバーサルＩＭＳ）
