1973's Penguin marked another transition for the band. with Danny Kirwan now departed, the band added guitarist Bob Weston (Long John Baldry) & vocalist Dave Walker Idle Race, Savoy Brown). with Bob Welch contributing the gorgeous Bright Fire & Night Watch & Christine McVie's melodic pop tunes Remember Me & Dissatisfied along with their co-written Did You Ever Love Me this was their highest charting USA album to date at 49. The band produced the album with Martin Birch again engineering.

プロデュースがマーティンバーチでボーカル...

プロデュースがマーティンバーチでボーカルがサバスに一瞬加入した人という興味本位も手伝って今更ながら聴いてみましたが、結構いい感じです。ただ馴染みがあるせいか、クリスティンの歌声に心地良さを感じ、デイヴが歌うと別のバンドの様に聴こえます。好きだけど。

デイブ･ウォーカーの加入は賛否両論あるのだけれど、「Derelict」は好きな曲です。 前2作ではいまひとつパッとしなかったクリスティンのポップセンスが花開きつつあるのも見逃せない。
