Yes, he composed what was to become the very famous and widely performed Rumanian Rhapsody. But there is much more to his musical creativity than that wonderful piece. Take, for example, his Symphony Number 3 beautifully performed by the Choeur de Chambre Les Elements and the Orchestre National de Lyon under the direction of Lawrence Foster. The last movement ends as a magnificent choral work. Hearing it for the first time I am sorry I had not heard it many times before. Had not heard it instead of those innumerable performances of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony or Mozart's Jupiter Symphony or all the other orchestra works so standard in the concert halls today. 交響曲3番が傑作だ。解説書によるとエネスコがイタリア滞在中に作曲された曲で、ダンテの神曲を表現したとの説があるとのこと。１楽章が地獄、２楽章が煉獄、３楽章が天国を表現したとするものだが。十分もっともらしく思える。２楽章の煉獄はあまりピンとこないが、１，３楽章は素晴らしい曲だ。１番２番の交響曲は退屈だった。バイオリンソナタはこれもイタリア風のいい作品だった。あまり知られていない曲だがこれほど素晴らしいとは思わなかった。
