Japanese pressing. Soundtrack to the critically acclaimed 1988 documentary on the life of the tragic Jazz trumpeter/vocalist. The film follows Baker and his music over the years and includes musicians from the early West Coast movement, and his family and friends commenting on what it was like to hang out with the great Jazz trumpeter. 12 tracks including 'Moon and Sand', 'Imagination', 'Your My Thrill', 'For Heaven's Sake' and 'Every Time We Say Goodbye'. かなりの美男子だった若い頃の面影はなく、声も枯れてしまっているが、それでも独特の魅力を持つ稀有なジャズプレイヤー。彼の晩年は悲惨なものではあったが、こうして永らくファンに愛されながら聴かれているのが唯一の救いか。

２０年近く前、Singsで彼の存在を知り、彼のヴォーカル曲を探し漁り辿り着いたのが本作。極めて強い中毒症状を起こす彼の声は年老いてなお健在。ベイカホリック=ベイカー依存症に陥ると、細胞が彼の声を欲求する。

AUS盤とはタイトル同じだが曲目が全く違っているし、PORTRAIT IN BLACK AND WHITEなんてどちらの盤にもないのではないか？
