リチャードの凝ったアレンジは、ジャズ・テイストの物が多いように思っていましたが、特にこのアルバムではかなりクラシック音楽の要素が強いように感じました。この当時はまだティーン・エイジャーであったカレンの初々しい歌声を聴くことができます。Carpentersの秘曲がたくさん収録されています。

若いカレンの張りつめた声が懐かしい。やや暗い声は繊細の証か。リマスターもひとつですが、聴き進むにつれすがすがしい気分になれます。シャウトしない女性ボーカルの奥ゆかしさ。

以外だった。スタートの当時のカレンの声の暗さ・・。決してベスト盤では聴けない。何があったために影は本物の姿をくっきりと示しているんだろう。もう４０年も過去となってしまっては仕方ないけど、リチャードは分かっているだろうけど・・サードアルバムから聴き始めたのでこの影の濃さには気付けなかった。張り詰めた若いボーカルはいいんだけど驚きでした。
